5 TIPS TO CREATE BETTER SALON SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

Social media is a fabulous way of connecting with your current clients and keeping them engaged, especially while in lockdown.

For some of us, the prospect of re-opening is still some time off. For others, it’s only a matter of days until we can open our salon doors and get our business back on track.

Whatever your current circumstance, social media is your best friend to getting your business back up and running and now is a great time to plan your social media content in advance.

I’ve created a handy social media planning tool for you. It’s free to download and very easy to plan out your posts for the next month.

You can then schedule your posts and get started planning your posts for the following month. 😊

But first things first. Do you have a purpose for your social media posts or do you simply post randomly and hope for the best?

A bit of strategy behind your social media is a good idea and that way you will have coherence to what your put out there.

Here are 5 tips to help you get more out of your social media posts to attract clients and keep them engaged.

  1. Are you reaching out to potential clients or your current clients? Each post should have one audience only.
  2. Do you have a specific message you are trying to convey? Each post should have one message only. More than one and you will confuse the reader.
  3. Do you plan your social media posts in advance or do you scramble to get something up there? Why not plan out a calendar of posts (a week ahead or more if you can), write them in advance and then schedule them to deliver.
  4. Do you have a set number of posts you deliver each week? Aim for 1-3 posts each week and post them at the same time on the same day each week. That way, people come to expect them and you can monitor if your posts are resonating or not. If not, try different times of the day or different days. See what happens.
  5. Do you post a mix of value content as well as sales content? If all you deliver are posts that are trying to sell to people, they will soon switch off and ‘un-Like’ your page. Try the 80/20 rule of 80% value posts and 20% sales posts.

Be sure to always have a call to action at the end of each post – that is, tell your reader what you want them to do once they have read your post.

Don’t forget to download this free salon social media planning tool. Then set aside some time and get started planning, creating and scheduling.
